* Liberating your body will help you develop better relationships with others. As you learn to  be fully accepting of your own physical appearance you will expand the range of people you see as attractive and friendly and who see you in the same way.

* Liberating your body will help you achieve better health. As you liberate your body you will become more aware of what affects your body, gain clearer knowledge of how to take care of it, and assume greater responsibility for your own well-being.

* Liberating your body will enhance your sex life. As you liberate your body you will gain new freedoms and find new joy in your own and your partner's body.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Most studies of deviant behavior in American society take for granted the moral meanings that the deviant gives to his conduct. Using these moral meanings as a focus of inquiry, the sociologists in this volume attempt to show how the individual attaches meanings to the actual events of his life.

In Part I, the authors try to reorient the traditional perspective of the sociological theory of deviance that sees man as the product of the social order, as well as the more recent phenomenological of existential perspective that views social order as only one possibility of man’s purposeful actions. Parts II and III consist of empirical studies of the theoretical problems dealt with in Part I.

“The various chapters ranging in theme from suicide to nudism are unified into a persuasive thesis that challenges many of the postulates of orthodox sociology. Douglas and his associates have produced what may become a new standard text in graduate courses.” – Library Journal
