BOOK DESCRIPTION
The most important social revolution of our time – that’s what the author calls the Danish action in freeing pornography of virtually all legal restraint. The only remaining restrictions –no window displays and no sales to anyone under 16.
This volume consists primarily of 18 interviews with Danes –all involved in the matter –and a translation of the Criminal Law Revision Committee's Report, recommending repeal of Denmark's pornography laws. Conclusion: no harm would result.
The Committee, consisting of two professors, Denmark's Chief Prosecutor and the head of the Appeals Court, were also motivated by their conclusion that it was becoming impossible to define pornography and to adjudicate such cases fairly.
The results: a big drop in the sales of pornographic books; a drop in sex crimes (while other crimes are mounting); everyone seems happy with the way things have worked out.
This includes newspaper publishers, members of Parliament, judges and even police officers!
